My name is Vincent van der Zee, and since early 2021, I have been part of the development team at Payt as a front-end developer. This means that my work mainly involves the front end of the application: the look-and-feel and many functionalities that our customers use. I find it important to think about how users can use our application as easily as possible, in other words, the usability.
After graduating in Computer Science, I began my search for a position in the field where I specialized. I partnered with a recruiter who considered my personal preferences when finding potential employers. The main company characteristics I valued were related to the small scale in terms of the number of employees, with an informal working atmosphere. My first job interview from this search was with Payt, and it was a perfect match.
Although I had little (work) experience with the programming languages used at Payt, my potential based on my skills was recognized. This allowed me the time and space to master the techniques during my first months, which I could eventually apply to new functionalities in the application. I am now fully integrated and feel very much at home at Payt. Due to my inquisitive attitude and gained experiences, I play a role in applying new techniques and developing new functionalities, such as the development of the Get it. Together program.
The variety of projects keeps me highly motivated at work. My colleagues also contribute to the pleasant, informal working atmosphere at Payt. We have a great team that knows how to deliver a quality product, and that sense of togetherness is cherished by Payt in the form of catered lunches, staff outings, and rewards. In that regard, I couldn’t wish for a better employer.
