Payt holds entrepreneurial Groningen close to its heart. We do this, of course, because we are originally a Groningen-based company, but also because we want to encourage (entrepreneurial) talent and the entrepreneurial climate in the province of Groningen.

We have experienced firsthand how nice it is when other entrepreneurs have confidence in your starting company and open doors for you that would otherwise remain closed. Now that we are becoming more of a mature company ourselves, we would like to do something for Groningen talent and the entrepreneurial climate in Groningen.

Funder of the Credit Union Groningen!

One of the initiatives that touches on this the most is the Credit Union in Groningen: a group of Groningen entrepreneurs who – with the support of Groningen entrepreneurs, the province, and the municipality of Groningen – established a Credit Union in 2014. SMEs are the job engine of the economy. Yet, since the economic crisis, it has become increasingly difficult for this group of entrepreneurs to obtain financing from banks. The goal of the Credit Union is to help Groningen SMEs with a future perspective in their financing. Companies that depend on financing for the continuation of their business but cannot obtain credit from the bank. The Credit Union is happy to help these Groningen entrepreneurs on their way. The Payt team is proud that we were able to help make the start of the Credit Union possible and that we contribute to a wonderful initiative that gives SME entrepreneurs a push in the right direction.

Co-founder and sponsor of the networking rally

We, as the best startup in Groningen, know better than anyone how incredibly important your network is for building your company. Yet, it is always a bit of a search to find which networking events are interesting. As avid car enthusiasts with a passion for everything that has four wheels and an engine, the Payt team is a co-initiator of an event that combines networking with a passion for cars. For four years in a row, the networking rally of Groningen has been organized. Whether one drives a classic car or the latest BMW, whether it’s the latest electric car from Tesla or a decidedly non-environmentally friendly old-timer: everyone with a car can participate in the rally. The rally consists of a course of about 100 km through the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. Participants stop at various special locations and must complete tasks during the rally. After the rally, there is, of course, time to chat about the ride, the cars, and the tasks over a drink. A low-threshold way where making new contacts is combined with a passion for cars. Made possible by Payt!

In addition to supporting entrepreneurs and stimulating the entrepreneurial climate, Payt is happy to support young talent. Talent with a passion, who chase their dreams and have a very clear vision of where they want to grow at a young age. Mart Anthony Karsenbarg is such a young talent. Although he is only fifteen years old, this amateur golfer and squash player with NOC NSF status from Hoogezand-Sappemeer trains no less than 25 hours a week to realize his dream: to become a professional golfer! Payt helped him a bit on his way by making a donation that allowed Mart to fund some of his European competitions.

Mart, we wish you tremendous success in realizing your dreams!
