I have been working for almost 7 years as a (nearly) full-stack software engineer at Payt. I started as a backend engineer and have recently been taking on more frontend tasks so that I can complete an entire feature by myself. Additionally, I handle responsible disclosure security reports from security researchers and am learning to automate and maintain the Payt infrastructure.
At Payt, you get a lot of freedom and the time and space to grow in areas where your interests lie. This allows you to learn new things alongside your regular duties. The growth of Payt, from a startup to a full-fledged software company, has provided me with valuable experiences.
Personally, I really appreciate that Payt and my colleagues are very flexible regarding work hours. For me, this means I can take afternoons off when there’s wind so I can go windsurfing (as long as I don’t have deadlines or other appointments, of course). The lunches, Friday afternoon drinks, and work outings have been very well organized and enjoyable since I started at Payt. I believe these also contribute to the average tenure of employees, which feels quite high at Payt. There is a positive work atmosphere with short lines of communication between the (intelligent) employees of all departments. A (very) flat organizational structure, in other words.
At the office, there are plenty of options for relaxation between tasks to blow off some steam; a soccer ball that has already broken a window, a dartboard, pull-up rack, and mini-basketball.
The coffee, drinks, and snacks are always well arranged, and the lunches are nowhere as extensive, sometimes even with a hot meal. Developer hackdays, meetups, and regular drinks are frequent. There are also team outings to warm and cold (foreign) destinations, which are, of course, fantastic and something you hardly find with other employers. Additionally, the Christmas gifts are always very well received each year.
All in all, still a very satisfied Payt employee!
