Last Sunday it was that time again: the annual open day of FC Groningen was on the agenda. A day when fans and stakeholders are warmly welcome to take a look in and around the Noordlease Stadium of FC Groningen. This year, it was once again a pleasant afternoon.

Open Day FC Groningen

One of the fans is my 7-year-old son. He was up early. Not without reason; the boy had an exciting day ahead. Besides going to the open day of FC Groningen with his father and a friend, he was finally getting his new FC Groningen shirt today. As a big FC Groningen fan, I was naturally very curious about which shirt he would choose; the home shirt or the away shirt?

Nice Weather and a Relaxed Atmosphere

In the end, my son couldn’t make a choice and he and his friend left the open day in both a home and an away kit. All afternoon they walked around the Noordlease stadium like two proud peacocks. The open day itself was, in one word, fantastic: nice weather, a good atmosphere, and a lively crowd. Despite the holiday period, many FC Groningen supporters still come to the open day every year.

Counting Down!

Next Sunday, the Eredivisie season 17/18 finally starts, with FC Groningen opening the competition with the derby against sc Heerenveen in the Noordlease Stadium. Quite a bit exciting – and yes, that’s an understatement.

Not least because Payt, as the new main sponsor, has made many changes in the stadium in recent months. Numerous choices and decisions have been made about logos, banners, LED boarding, skybox, shirts, training suits, and so on. One of the things we encountered is that our logo has a red background. It stands out nicely but contrasts quite a bit with the green of FC Groningen. We have therefore chosen to limit the red color in the stadium. For example, we deliberately chose to make the player tunnel green. Also, the roof edge is not colored in Payt red, but in FC Groningen green. We believe the result is impressive. The green cloth stands out but at the same time forms a beautiful whole with the rest of the stadium.

What Do FC Groningen Fans Think?

It’s great that we at Payt are satisfied, but we also find the opinion of FC Groningen supporters important. We are very curious about what you think and hope you are satisfied with the result.

Payt wishes you a very enjoyable match next Sunday. Will you let us know what you think of the new sponsor expressions? We are curious about your opinion.

See you Sunday! Sander Kamstra
